Swatch & Review: Rain City Lacquer Mint Rainier

Today, I've got a gorgeous polish from the recently established Rain City Lacquer. Mint Rainier has a shimmery, silvery blue base with square aqua and periwinkle glitters.

Gorgeous! The polish is also equally gorgeous - a shimmer base isn't something I usually gravitate to, so I was curious to see how I'd like it... I fell in love! I chose to layer 2 coats of Mint Rainier over Cult Nails Manipulative, a beautiful Robin's egg blue with silver shimmer. Mint Rainier is one of five polishes in Rain City Lacquer's 'Sleepless' collection.

I would recommend using a coat of Gelous or similar glitter smoothing top coat before your regular top coat to get that glassy smooth finish. I was pretty happy with the glitter coverage - I felt that too much glitter density would have been overwhelming, especially with the super pretty shimmer base. Almost no application issues, I had a TINY bit of dragging on my ring finger but that's my error - didn't wait long enough between coats. Swatches shown using the Lumos basecoat/topcoat system.

My Poor Girl's macro... haha
Overall, I'm really impressed with this polish, and I can't wait to see what Rica has in store for the future of Rain City Lacquer! The polishes are available from her shop, and follow her for updates on her Instagram, Twitter and Facebook!

I also did a little bit of research and found a gorgeous photo of this polish is named for, Mt. Rainier.
